After a year of training at Fight Prime Training Center in Madison, Wisconsin, I decided to help the business out by running their social media. Ever since the spring of 2025, I've been showing up to classes with my Canon 90D. I take a mix of photos and videos, learning which angles and settings looked best for the sport. After the sessions, I sift through the content, organize the files, and edit the photos in Adobe Lightroom Classic. For every batch of photos, I create a generic color correction, then adjust each photo, making sure each one looks right. Every photo then goes into folders onto Google Drive, where I can send them to the students and coaches.
I utilize all the photos I take by posting them on the business's Instagram and Facebook. I add a unique and engaging caption to each post, and send them out regularly throughout the week. Since I took over the social media, I have seen a steady rise in followers.
In addition to photos, I also film videos. After ingesting them onto my computer, I do quick edits that include popular and trending song choices. The short form videos then get posted onto Instagram Reels and Facebook, which tend to reach a larger audience than just the local community.
I have learned a lot about social media and marketing through this experience. It has been incredibly helpful in growing my photography and photo editing skills, and I found that I truly love this work.
